Trips We Have Taken

large product photo   El Camino Del Diablo, Dec. 19-Dec. 21, 2008

This trip was a last minute change of plans. We originally were going to Panamint Valley but a major storm came through and covered it in snow. We decided to do El Camino Del Diablo in Southern AZ. It was an amazing trip and our first one alone. Weather was perfect but the trail was a little muddy. This area had so many different scenery to see and pictures don't do it justice.

We took a trip to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving to see friends and explore Bitter Springs Byway and the Valley of Fire. These places were incredible and beautiful. It is amazing how diverse the desert can be. We got to Valley of Fire a little later then hoped and did not get to explore more then half of it, so we are definitely planning a trip back. We felt it by far rivaled Red Rock.

I was asked by the Kamparoo rep if I would particapate in the Overland Journal magazine trailer testing being held in Prescott, AZ. I jumped at the chance to hang out with a bunch of other Expedition travelers and to be part of a magazine article. I had a great time and it was really cool to see our Jeep and Kamparoo in the article. We definitely need to get back to that area to explore more.

To celebrate my 40th birthday, we did our first real overland trip. We drove the Mojave Road in CA. This was about 100 miles covered over 2.5 days worth of traveling. It was amazing. We woke up to snow on Sunday morning, which is a rare occurence and saw some amazing sites. It truly was something I have always wanted to do. The pictures truly do not do it justice but we hope you enjoy them none the less.

We took this trip with friends, to the Superstition OHV area, located west of El Centro, CA. This was a shake down trip for our new Kamparoo travel trailer and some modifications I had made to the Cherokee. Overall everything worked out great. Mother nature decided to put our Kamparoo to the test with 20-30mph winds with gusts even higher. We made it through without problems but I would much rather not test that again.

We met up with a group from Expedition Portal for the first San Diego Meet and Greet/Trail Run. It was a great time meeting people you have only talked to via the Internet. The run was up to Coyote Canyon, which we had never been on before. There was a fairly deep water crossing and some good, rocky trail climbs that were the most extreme I had put the Cherokee on to date. We made it through without problems and had a great time. We look forward to more meet ups with the ExPo crew.
